Block Styles
The list block includes a “Fancy” style which provides a unique style for the bullets and numbers.
The paragraph block includes a “Heading” style to make the paragraph look like a heading without it semantically being a heading, which is useful for things like “Recipe Tip” if you don’t want it appearing in the table of contents.
Numbered Gallery
The image and gallery blocks include a “Numbered” style to automatically add numbers on top of the image. This is useful for step-by-step process shots. One thing to note though, starting with WordPress 6.7 the numbered style now displays “1” on all images (just in the editor though) instead of the numbers increasing. If you preview the post on the frontend you’ll see the numbers correctly displayed. We’re hoping this gets resolved by WordPress in an upcoming release.
Tips block
Use the Tips block to highlight content inside the post.
You can also use the Group block to add a background color to content to achieve a similar look, which is useful if your theme’s Tip block does not include a background color (ex: it has a border instead of a background).
Block Areas
Block Areas let you use the block editor to globally editable content areas, like your Sidebar and After Post area.
There are also block areas that appear inside of posts so you can add blocks automatically to all posts. The Table of Contents block area can add the TOC block to all posts with 3 or more headings. The After First Image block area can add the Save Recipe block or Pinterest CTA block to all posts.
For more information, see our article on Block Areas.
Recipe First
With the Recipe First functionality, a recipe card replaces the normal post header if placed first, offering creators the flexibility in publishing recipes alone or with additional content.
